Frying Pan Creek Campsite off Frying Pan Rd, Chichester State Forest, via Dungog
The BMW Touring Club of NSW invites you to its 32nd Karuah River Rally situated about 30 km north of Dungog.
This is one of the longest running rallies in Australia; this is the 32nd running of the rally.
The clubs sells BBQ dinner on Sat night and for $20 you receive a badge and breakfast voucher for an egg & bacon sandwich. Free tea & coffee all w/e. Soft drinks and bottled water are on sale from Sat arvo.
All supplies for party nibbles etc can be had in Dungog.
A stop at the Bank Hotel in town is a must to replace fluids before doing the last 30k’s. The last 14k is easy dirt. Even wet it is not the clay skid pan of old that you here stories about and pre GS nearly every one rode their road bike in.
It can be a very hot ride this time of year so if you have a camelbak use it or at least bring water. Also handy as we have water for tea/coffee & bottled water ’til it runs out. After that it’s boiled creek water. It hasn’t killed anyone yet but after you’ve seen the people in it on Sat it makes for an ordinary drink.
Bring your swimmers ’cause if it’s hot it will be humid and relief can be found in either of the two water holes. No need to dress up here. There will be plenty of spectacularly ordinary bodies at this one.
Should be a great weekend and is always a good ride. It is not unusual to have at least one rider there from every state so our little trip is just a stroll.
