NEWCASTLE PINK RIBBON RIDE REVIEW
This was only the 2nd year Just Girls ran the Newcastle Pink Ribbon Ride and we tripled last year’s effort in numbers and raised nearly 10 times the amount in dollars!!
The rain cleared and Saturday morning saw 106 pink ribboned bikes and riders roll out of Hexham Maccas with others joining in along the way.
We sold over 1,500 raffle tickets @ $2 each, and with donations, we have a grand total of nearly $3,500 to pass on to the Cancer Council for on-going research into Breast Cancer – Not bad for our 2nd year!
We also managed to get a very small spot on the NBN news on the Sunday nite – bit disappointing as the TV crew were there for at least 30 minutes and did heaps of interviews etc. But we all know what the media is like!
We also had one distinguished guest at the start – Carol Cameron, the late Max Cameron’s wife, and she was so impressed she is looking to be a pillion next year!
Most of the crowd this year ventured all the way from Newcastle to Merriwa (180ks) for lunch and then those attending the rally headed for the Showground where our ‘Just Girls’ group kicked arse in the bike show and the gymkhana events!
We had the raffle draw and presentation on stage that night and we collected another $100 to add to the money raised when we auctioned one of our Pink T/shirts we had all signed :-)) The guy was still wearing it the next morning!! :-))
All in all, a very successful weekend and it looks like the future of the Newcastle Pink Ribbon Ride is assured!

OCTOBER Saturday 22ND – PINK RIBBON RIDE FOR BREAST CANCER
Just Girls extends an open invitation to all riders, all clubs/groups (male and female!) to attend Newcastle’s 2nd Pink Ribbon Ride for Breast Cancer.
Meet Hexham Maccas as early as you like for an informal ‘meet and greet’, handing out of T/shirts, and getting your raffle tickets for some fantastic prizes again this year.
Departing 10am for lunch at Merriwa, approx 180ks OR just ride as far as you wish!
Get into the spirit of the day, register and order your JUST GIRLS PINK RIBBON RIDE 2005 HOT PINK T/SHIRT (or wear last year’s). All orders to be in 10 days before the ride.
