Information for New Riders

If you are taking your first steps to motorcycle riding then there is a huge amount of information you need to know to be able to keep yourself safe.

If you are intending to road ride then you have to undertake the Learner Riders Licence before you can venture onto our roads legally. Successful completion of the initial tests mean you are free to ride, but that doesn’t mean you know how to ride.  The information we have provided in these pages we hope will give you some direction as to what knowledge and skills you need to possess to be able to ride safely and legally.

If you are more focused on competitive riding (dirt or even track) then a road licence may not be necessary but that means your riding will be restricted to private property and/or race tracks/ride parks.  In all cases, road or off-road you should seek some education on how to ride.  See our Rider Training Providers for courses in your area.
